SSDI Awards | Rheumatoid Arthritis

Facts: The claimant was a 61 year old former accounts manager for a manufacturing company. She is well educated with a Bachelor’s degree and a high wage earner. She was out of work in September 2009 as a result of rheumatoid arthritis which affected her ability to drive, type and write. Despite her condition, she was very active and exercised frequently and was on a vegan diet.

Her initial application for benefits was denied on February 15, 2011 and she retained our firm to help her with the appeal. On January 10, 2012, we submitted an On the Record Request asking that Social Security Administration award her benefits since September 2009 without a need for a hearing as a result of her condition. We argued based on her impairments, age, and education she was unable to achieve substantial gainful employment.

Case Result: The On the Record was approved and she was awarded over $30,000 in retroactive pay since 2009 and a monthly benefit of $962
