Our Children Need Us. Check Your Motorcycle Insurance
/Todd thought that he had "full insurance coverage" on his motorcycle when he was injured in a motorcycle crash. We reviewed his policy and found that while he had full collision coverage to repair his broken bike caused by another careless driver who had no insurance, Todd only had $25,000 in uninsured motorist coverage for injuries. That means that if Todd had been seriously injured, broke his leg or hurt his hand, Todd and his family would be in financial trouble since Todd works in electronics cannot work with an injured hand or leg. Todd may have been out thousands of dollars in future lost earnings as well as medical bills. His small uninsured motorist policy would cover only $25,000 of the loss. In that case, Todd would get himself a new bike (that he would be too injured to even ride it), but his children would be impoverished, since he would not be able to work and would not have the insurance coverage available to give him the compensation that he and his family need and deserve by law.
Make certain that you have uninsured motorist coverage in at least $250,000, and preferably more with an umbrella policy. Discuss this with your insurance agent. They will be able to increase your coverage for very little money.
